I first started visiting Barr Lake for birdwatching and quickly fell in love with the trail layout and beautiful views. During one of my visits, I noticed an opportunity to volunteer with Friends of Barr Lake and had such a great experience helping at an event that I wanted to stay involved.

Barr Lake inspires me to step away from city life and spend time in nature. My favorite spots are the gazebos, where I like to bring a snack, relax, and take in the views while spotting wildlife. One of the things I appreciate most about Friends of Barr Lake is how welcoming and supportive everyone is—it’s always a joy to come together and contribute.

I recently joined the board as a Member-at-Large, where I help organize and support events at the lake. I grew up volunteering alongside my mom and brother, and I’ve carried that passion into adulthood. Being involved from planning through execution—and seeing a project come together—has been especially rewarding.

Outside of Barr Lake, I volunteer at MaxFund Animal Adoption Center, take swing dance lessons, and enjoy going to movies, concerts, and museums. At home, I love creative projects like drawing, painting, and crocheting. Each year, I also enjoy taking a big international trip with friends.

I was born in La Paz, Bolivia—the highest administrative capital in the world at 12,000 feet—and I love Denver because it reminds me of home.
